Case Study

Context: My local public library had patrons asking how to access the newspaper online. They needed guidance through the steps to the free online newspaper access

Challenges: The process of accessing the newspaper was surprisingly complicated, with many places where the learner could go wrong. The learning solution needed to be explicit and clear while also being succinct, as many of the library patrons were senior citizens.

Solutions: This annotated screencast video walks library patrons through the steps from start to finish. It also gives them shortcut options for bookmarking the online newspaper to simplify the steps for next time. The voiceover narration clearly describes what the learner must do in each step.

Results: The local library was able to post this video to their website and YouTube channel where patrons could view it easily. As a result, library staff were able to show patrons this video when they asked about online newspaper access.
